😳 Ayrton Senna once blamed a crash on the wall moving, and somehow, he was right.

At the 1984 Dallas Grand Prix, rookie Senna was running fourth when he hit a concrete barrier and was forced to retire.

When he returned to the pits, he insisted he had taken the corner the same way as before and that the wall must have moved.

His engineer Pat Symonds initially thought it sounded like a rookie excuse, but Senna was so convinced that they went to inspect the corner after the race.

They discovered another car had nudged the concrete block, causing it to pivot slightly into the racing line.

Symonds later said the edge was sticking out “maybe 5mm,” while other retellings describe it as only a few millimeters.

That tiny movement was enough because Senna had been driving with absurd precision, missing the wall by almost nothing lap after lap.

The story became one of the clearest examples of Senna’s feel behind the wheel: he did not invent an excuse, he sensed a physical change in the track.
