🇺🇸Happy Independence Day from USS Constitution!🇺🇸

USS Constitution, the world’s oldest commissioned warship afloat, was underway in Boston Harbor today celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

This year’s Fourth of July underway welcomed guests and shipmates from across the country, selected through our annual lottery. If you missed your chance, keep an eye on our social media in early 2027 for the next opportunity to sail aboard “Old Ironsides” on Independence Day.

Known as “Old Ironsides,” USS Constitution earned her legendary nickname during the War of 1812 when British cannonballs were seen bouncing off her wooden hull. Undefeated in battle, she defeated or captured 33 enemy vessels while defending American sea lanes during the Barbary Wars and the War of 1812.

Today, America’s Ship of State remains an active-duty U.S. Navy warship, where Sailors welcome more than 600,000 visitors each year, preserving the Navy’s history, maritime heritage, and the enduring values of service, courage, and sacrifice.

As we celebrate 250 years of American independence, USS Constitution continues to stand as a living symbol of our nation’s strength and the generations of Sailors who have defended our freedom.
