Today I’m 38. 🥹 The older I get, the less I believe happiness comes from chasing comfort.

One of the biggest things life has taught me is that sacrifice isn’t a bad thing. It’s choosing to give up something of comfort now for something so much greater in the future.

I’ve learned that most things worth having never come easily.

Marriage takes work.
Parenthood takes sacrifice.
Dreams take discipline.
Growth takes discomfort.

10 years into motherhood, I can honestly say every sleepless night, every stretch mark, every changed plan, every season that asked more of me than I thought I had to give has been worth it. There were things I put on pause. Parts of myself that changed. Seasons that demanded everything I had, and somehow I came out with even more than I gave.

When you’re in the thick of it, it’s hard to see the bigger picture. The exhaustion feels endless and sacrifices feel heavy. Then one day you realize this season of pouring everything into your little ones is only a fraction of the lifetime you’ll spend loving them. 🥹 What a privilege that is.

I’ve also learned to extend more grace.

To myself.
To my children.
To other people.

Most people aren’t trying to hurt us. They’re imperfect humans doing their best, the same way we are. The more I’ve stopped assuming the worst and started assuming good intentions, the happier I’ve become, and that has been the greatest lesson of all…gratitude.

If my family is healthy, we’re together, we have a safe place to sleep, food on our table, and another day to love one another… we already have more than I could ever ask for.

Nothing else compares.

So here’s to 38.

To embracing the sacrifices that become life’s greatest blessings.

To choosing grace.

To never taking an ordinary day for granted.

And to thanking God for every single one of them. 💕
