Jaxon Cover is a special player.  Unless you live under a rock, you’ve seen him at a rink at some point at a NARCh Tournament, completely dominating.  If not in person, in the recent social media circles since he got drafted in the 1st Round by Ottawa, 32nd overall.  Jaxon has a unique story to tell.

There’s been quite a few players that have played NARCh growing up, or dabbled in it, that played in the NHL, growing up playing both ice and roller from a young age.  Jaxon’s path is unique.

He’s played in every NARCh FINALS that I can think of since he was 6 years old, plus a ton of NARCh Regional Events.  His older brother Jaedon was a great player too!  Built more like a linebacker, he did more than hold his own on the rink defensively.  When they moved from Cayman to Ontario, Jaeden chose football.  Jaxon chose ice. 

In the Cayman Islands, Jaxon had no ice.  His father, Pat, had ice in his drink when we met for dinner when I did a clinic there, but that’s about the extent of ice in Cayman. 

Great family!  Easy to see why he had the green light to succeed.  Pat wasn’t your typical hockey dad that had unrealistic dreams. 

He knew his son was special, and he gave him an opportunity at an age that was critical to make the transition to ice.  Jaxon took advantage of it and had great coaches and opportunities. 

He made the most of his fortunes, and of course we wish him success and continue to follow him.

He’s got work to do at Penn St. before he gets to Ottawa.  But we’re confident he will. 

I’m looking forward to skating on the canal, and going to some of his games!
