It's a Tiger Tuesday Teacher Feature...Summer Edition! ☀️🐅

School may be out, and we know that many of our Tigers are sleeping in and trying not to think about homework, but plenty of our students, faculty, and staff are off having some pretty incredible summer experiences: adventures, internships, fellowships, educational experiences, and more.

So throughout the summer, we'll be checking in on a few of them, starting with Upper Division teacher Tommy Bell, who is currently spending his July in Germany. 🇩🇪

This marks Dr. Bell's fourth year participating in the prestigious Deutschland Plus program through the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG).

Over the course of several weeks in Bavaria and Berlin,  he is teaching and chaperoning high school students from across the country as they immerse themselves in German language and culture. When he's not in the classroom, you'll likely find him hiking and climbing in the Alps, logging a few miles on a run, exploring historic cities, sampling authentic German food, and taking in everything from concerts to castles to cafés.

It's the kind of experience, like our HIP program,  that reminds us language learning is about so much more than vocabulary and grammar—it's also about understanding people, places, history, and culture.
