The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) has teamed up with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to debut the NSIA-JICA Impact Innovation Fund. The $50 million joint venture vehicle is designed to take direct equity and quasi-equity stakes—including preferred shares, convertible notes, and venture debt—in pre-seed to pre-Series A startups. 
 
​Backing the initiative, JICA has committed a $14 million grant, while the NSIA is providing up to $20 million on a matching basis, with the remaining capital balance to be sourced from co-investors. The fund has officially entered its operational phase with a public call for a fund manager to build out the pipeline. Capital deployment will target tech-enabled founders building scalable solutions to critical social challenges across agriculture, healthcare, education, energy, and waste management.
