A body has been found on Horn Island during the search for missing 18 year old Nolan Xavier Wells.

According to WLOX, Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter said the body was found around 8:45 a.m. Monday morning by a park ranger on the northwest end of Horn Island.

Officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the person found.

That part matters.

Nolan Xavier Wells was last seen Saturday, July 4, around 3 p.m. on Horn Island. He had traveled there with friends, but everyone else reportedly made it back to the mainland without him.

His phone was later recovered and returned to his family.

Search efforts have involved multiple agencies, including the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, Gulf Islands National Seashore, U.S. Coast Guard, and United Cajun Navy.

This is devastating.

A family has been begging for answers.

A mother has been pleading for photos, videos, witnesses, and truth.

And now a body has been found while police are searching for her missing 18 year old son.

Until officials confirm the identity, we have to be careful with our words.

But we do not have to be quiet about the questions.

What happened on Horn Island?

Who was the last person to see Nolan?

Why did everyone else leave without him?

Who knows more than they are saying?

Nolan’s family deserves answers.
