My autistic daughter qualifies for services I had to find completely on my own.
Nobody handed me a list. Nobody explained what she actually qualifies for.
I used to ask all the time. Just tell me what's available, show me the menu, and nobody did. 
So you learn it yourself. You dig up the programs no one tells you exist. You run every denial through AI to find the loophole they're counting on you to miss. Medicaid, private insurance, conservatorship, the IEP. Every system with its own rules, and the rules are always changing.
It's a chess game, and nobody hands you the rules.
And it should never be a game. Not for disabled people, not for the people who love them. But it's built like one. So I learned to play and play well. 
Because when she loses, she isn't losing a game. She's losing her care. Her dignity. Sometimes her safety.
These aren't favors. They're what our laws already grant her. I just make sure the law actually reaches her.
