I got my start in swimming because my parents wanted my two older brothers and I to be safer around the water when we would visit the pool in the summer. They knew the staggering statistics of Black youth drowning, and they knew it was a life saving skill to learn to swim. Thankfully, swimming became my passion, and there’s nothing better than doing what you love! •
