If Positano is out of your budget, add Polignano a Mare to your list instead. Think Amalfi Coast views, but with the charm of an old fishing village and without the ultra high-end price tag. And pugliese food, which is just out of this world 👌🏼

This apartment completely transformed our time here! Polignano a Mare is famous for its beaches & coves, delicious orecchiette dishes, and iconic grottos. But it’s *busy* in summer. Staying here allowed us to take in the most famous sight in the area, Lama Monachile, without battling any crowds. 

Enjoy the beautiful view from steps away from your bed, and walk down in the morning before it gets too busy. It’s right in the town, so we had restaurants & bars on our doorstep. Pricing is seasonal but it’s around €100 per person in summer. 

Here’s some detail about Polignano a Mare to help you plan your trip! 

📍Where is it?

East Coast Italy, in Puglia. The closest airport is Bari & there’s a direct train from the airport

• Time needed: 2–3 days

• Budget: Around €200 per person per day if you eat out, stay somewhere nice & try local cocktail bars. Less if you want to try local places to eat. 

Worth doing:
• Swim at Lama Monachile
• Get lost & shop in the old town
• Do a boat tour to the sea caves dotted along the coast 
• Eat at pescariaofficial labalconata ristoranteantichemura 
• Book ristorantegrottapalazzese for a special occasion
• If you stay longer, you can take day trips to Ostuni, Alberobello, Monopoli and Locorotundo
