Two years ago, I thrifted this dress and instantly fell in love with it. It was a size 8… and at the time, I was a size 16…

I bought it anyway.

Not because I wanted to force myself into it one day, but because I genuinely loved the dress. I told myself I’d probably have it altered to fit me someday. It never crossed my mind that I needed to change my body for it. I loved myself exactly as I was.

At the same time, I knew I wanted to take better care of myself. I wanted to feel stronger, healthier, and show up for myself—not because of a dress, but because I deserved that kind of love.

Fast forward two years…

I pulled it out of my closet, honestly a little scared to try it on. I had no idea what the answer would be.

And it fit.

The funny part? It didn’t make me feel prettier or more worthy. It reminded me of something so much bigger.

It reminded me of two years of choosing myself. Of healing my relationship with my body. Of showing up on the hard days. Of learning discipline, grace, patience, and self respect. The physical change happened because of everything I was doing for me, not because I was chasing a size.

The dress isn’t what I’m proud of.

I’m proud of the woman I’ve become while it sat patiently in my closet.

…But can we also agree this dress is SO cute? 🥹✨ I’m really glad I didn’t leave it on that thrift store rack two years ago.
