It was a Premier League weekend that included goals, controversy and a sacking - what more could you ask for?

In the early Saturday kick off, Man City all but wrapped up the title with a 1-0 win over a limp Chelsea side. Kevin De Bruyne sealed the win for City with a sublime strike from outside of the box. Elsewhere in the ‘title race’, Liverpool saw off stubborn Brentford 3-0 at Anfield to close the gap to City to 11 points with a game in hand.

Everton’s 2-1 loss to Norwich on Saturday was the final nail in the coffin for Toffees boss Rafa Benitez who was sacked the following day. Meanwhile, Newcastle and Norwich failed to arrest their own relegation fears as they drew 1-1 at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon.

Philippe Coutinho reintroduced himself to the Premier League in style with a late goal against Manchester United to help Aston Villa to a 2-2 draw on Saturday night. Villa had to dig themselves out of a hole after falling behind by two goals courtesy of Bruno Fernandes but Steven Gerrard’s side will definitely be the happier of the two teams with the point.

Brighton and Crystal Palace renewed their bitter rivalry on Friday night, playing out a thrilling 1-1 draw at the AMEX. Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher continues to impress for Patrick Viera’s side and will have his eye on place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for this years World Cup.

Jack Harrison’s hattrick at the London Stadium helped Leeds to a 3-2 win over West Ham in arguably the game of the weekend and lifted Bielsa’s side to 15th in the table. Finally, James Ward-Prowse added to his collection of incredible freekicks with a goal of the season contender at Molineux but it wasn’t enough for Southampton as they fell 3-1 to an in-form Wolves side.
