Jalen Hurts has a great mindset! 💯 

Jalen Hurts enjoyed a highly impactful but ultimately bittersweet three-year stint with the Alabama Crimson Tide from 2016 to 2018 under head coach Nick Saban. 

As a true freshman in 2016, he quickly won the starting quarterback job, becoming the first true freshman to start at QB for Alabama in 32 years, and delivered a historic season: 2,780 passing yards with 23 touchdowns, plus a school-record 954 rushing yards and 13 rushing scores as a dual-threat leader, helping the team reach the College Football Playoff National Championship game. 

In 2017, he again guided Alabama to the title game, throwing for over 2,000 yards with minimal turnovers while adding strong rushing production, though he was famously benched at halftime of the championship against Georgia in favor of freshman Tua Tagovailoa, who led a comeback victory.

Hurts returned as a junior in 2018 primarily as a backup, contributing in key moments like relief appearances in the SEC Championship, before transferring to Oklahoma for his final college season. 

His time at Alabama showcased his poise, leadership, and versatility, earning him SEC Offensive Player of the Year honors as a freshman and cementing his legacy as a key figure in the program’s dynasty era.
