Our 1,000th post honors @erniesuggs, the veteran Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter who steps into a new role as senior editor of UATL, the AJC’s Black culture brand.

To mark the occasion, we’re revisiting “MARTA: History Defined by Race,” one of Ernie’s defining projects as a senior reporter for UATL. The Gold Telly Award-winning project remains a powerful example of UATL storytelling at its best: deeply reported, rooted in Atlanta and clear about the history that still shapes the city.
