In 1993, Porsche gave America its own RS. The real Carrera RS never came stateside. Emissions and safety regs kept it home for twenty years.

So Porsche built one for us. Started with a Carrera 2, stripped it down. Same 247 horsepower flat six, same five speed, but Turbo suspension underneath: stiffer springs, Turbo shocks, mechanical steering with no power assist. A fixed spoiler on the decklid was the only tell.

No cruise control. No radio. No A/C. Just a little less weight and more feel, straight from the RS playbook.

Three decades later, it’s still proof America got its own piece of RS history. 

This Fourth of July, we’re celebrating the Porsches that made things a little sharper and a lot more fun.
