Coach - Chris Buffi - Track & Field - Edmonton Metro Zone

Chris Buffi has been instrumental in the success of track and field at Strathcona High School and across Edmonton Metro. He consistently puts students first, always looking for ways to create opportunities and ensure as many athletes as possible can experience success. His commitment to the sport, his school, and the broader track and field community has made a lasting impact on countless young athletes.

Athlete -  Cameron Nagel, Christ the King High School 

Cameron is a student-athlete from Christ the King High School who competed in this year's Para 100m and 200m wheelchair events.
After winning the 200m race, Cameron learned that his fellow competitor had been disqualified for leaving their lane. Rather than celebrating his own victory, Cameron refused to accept his gold medal until he knew the other athlete would also receive theirs.
While the rules official was simply enforcing the rules as they understood them, Cameron saw something bigger. His compassion, empathy, and unwavering sense of fairness reminded everyone watching that sport is about far more than medals and results. Ultimately, the disqualification was overturned by School Sport Alberta and the officials, but Cameron's actions had already become the defining moment of the race.

Official - Jean Guillemette (NW Zone)

A multi sport referee with nearly 50 years of experience, He is considered by many to be one of the most honorable and fairest officials. Players and coaches are excited when they see he is their official. He takes time to chat with players, parents and coaches at every opportunity. He is also known for his warm smile and easy laugh.
