A man died trying to save his child from a house fire in St. Mary's County, Maryland, that may have been caused by fireworks, authorities say. ⁠

The father initially escaped the burning home but went back in ⸺ fearing that his 10 year old child may be trapped inside. The child was able to safely escape, but the father was overcome and died on the second floor.⁠
