The Superman star revealed that as his fame has grown, gaming has become his favourite way to switch off. Speaking ahead of the release of Netflix's The Witcher in 2019, Cavill said he prefers staying at home playing games like Total War: Warhammer II, explaining that being out in public means he's always aware people could be taking photos of him.⁠

Cavill also revealed he'd completed The Witcher 3 multiple times before landing the role of Geralt of Rivia. He said he was determined to stay true to the character and even pushed for more of Geralt's magical signs to appear in the series because they were an important part of the lore.⁠
