## Caption

To most people, this video will probably look underwhelming. A few prompts. A few imperfect responses from a small language model. Nothing extraordinary.

But to me, this is one of the biggest milestones of my career.

Over the past few months, I’ve gone from simply using AI to studying how language models actually work. That meant learning transformers, tokenization, training pipelines, datasets, optimization, model architecture, quantization, memory, and everything in between. Then came designing, engineering, debugging, training, and spending more money than I’d originally planned on a model with just 300 million parameters.

Today, I watched it respond to its very first prompts.

Is it perfect? Not even close.

It hallucinates. It drifts off topic. It still needs instruction tuning and plenty of work.

But every frontier model started as an imperfect first version. This one just happens to be mine.

Running locally on my MacBook Pro is Cogneason Nano 300M, the first model in what I hope becomes a long journey into efficient intelligence and AI research.

This isn’t the finish line.

It’s the first conversation with a model I built and trained myself.

And that’s a feeling I’ll never forget.
