2009 SEC Championship Game: Alabama 32, Florida 13 | Georgia Dome, Atlanta, GA. | December 5, 2009

In a rematch billed as the Game of the Century, the first-ever conference title game to feature a matchup of undefeated number one and number two ranked teams, Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide avenged the previous year's loss to Florida, beating the Gators 32 to 13 in front of 75,514 fans to punch a ticket to the BCS National Championship Game.

Alabama controlled the game from start to finish. Leigh Tiffin opened the scoring with a 48-yard field goal, and Mark Ingram punched in a 7-yard touchdown run to make it 9-0 in the first quarter. Florida answered with a Tim Tebow touchdown pass to David Nelson to cut it to 12-10, but Ingram scored again on a 3-yard run to push the lead back to 19-10. A late Caleb Sturgis field goal brought Florida within six at halftime, 19-13, but that was as close as the Gators would get. Alabama took the ball to start the second half, and after a Florida punt, Greg McElroy found tight end Colin Peek for a 17-yard touchdown to make it 26- 13. Ingram capped his night with a third touchdown, a 1-yard run early in the fourth quarter, to complete the scoring.

Ingram finished with 113 rushing yards and three touchdowns against the nation's top-ranked defense, adding a 69-yard screen-pass reception to total 189 all-purpose yards. The performance made him Alabama's all-time single-season rushing leader and helped him become the school's first Heisman Trophy winner. McElroy was named the game's MVP after directing an offense that piled up 490 total yards and controlled the ball for nearly 40 minutes. Tebow threw for 247 yards and a touchdown but was intercepted in the end zone by Javier Arenas late in the game, part of a defeat that snapped Florida's 22-game winning streak.
The win gave Alabama its 22nd SEC title and sent the Crimson Tide to the BCS National Championship Game, where they would go on to beat Texas and complete a perfect season. The 2009 SEC Championship is often remembered as the moment Alabama's modern dynasty under Saban truly began.
