#TSRPolitics: Former Florida Governor candidate #AndrewGillum was recently arrested in Alabama on drug charges and later released.

According to local10news, records showed that Gillum was arrested last Thursday in Daphne, Alabama, on “charges of possession of dangerous drugs, drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.” It’s noted that he’s since been released from custody.

WFLA reports that Gillum was stopped by police officers for alleged erratic driving. Officers allegedly spotted a glass pipe on the center console, leading to the search of the vehicle he was riding in. As a result, authorities allegedly found “rolled marijuana cigarettes, and three packages of methamphetamines.”

Gillum served as the 126th mayor of Tallahassee and faced off against current Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the 2018 Florida Gubernatorial race. He came in nearly 33,000 votes short of defeating DeSantis.

He was previously connected to a drug-related scandal in 2020, when police said they found him in an inebriated state at the Mondrian South Beach Hotel. At that time, he released a statement saying he was at a wedding the night prior to the incident and was drinking, and denied taking methamphetamines.
