I am back home and available for personal Meditation sessions. I will also be leading the daily meditation practice at the Buddhist Studies Institute a couple of times over the next few weeks before I head back to Galicia at the end of the month. Drop me a message if you want to join or connect!

(Humble disclaimer: I am not a Dharma teacher, simply a dedicated practitioner sharing my personal reflections. If you are looking to truly initiate yourself into the path, I highly encourage you to check out the incredible resources on the Buddhist Studies Institute website.)

Have you ever noticed what happens when you expose someone’s incoherences? Instead of taking a hard look inward or accepting the feedback, they get triggered. They immediately throw up a smokescreen of "facts", conveniently cherry-picked arguments designed to defend their narrative and avoid taking accountability.

In Tibetan Buddhism, this reaction isn't just defensive; it is the ultimate spiritual blindness. It is the absolute cowardice of the ego.

When people experience shenpa (the visceral "hook" of a threatened ego), they panic. Instead of using their intellect as a sword to cut through their own delusions, they weaponize it as a shield to protect their lies.

There is a direct correlation between this aggressive defensiveness and a total lack of integrity. People who dare to cheat, lie, or manipulate for their own benefit live in a fractured reality. To keep their deceit alive, they must close their eyes to the truth.

That is why they can’t handle the mirror being held up to them. If they actually looked inward, their whole illusion would collapse. So, they argue. They rationalize. They throw "facts" to distract you from their lack of honesty.

The teachings remind us that true integrity (Sila) means using the mirror to look at your own face. Using logic and intellectual noise to justify your own misconduct is just turning medicine into poison.

True resilience isn't winning the argument to protect a lie. It’s dropping the shield and sitting with the discomfort of your own truth. 🪞⚔️
