🚨 Comment NEWSLETTER and I’ll send you a link to my free weekly newsletter, which covers many relevant medical topics including ways to maximize bone health 🗞️

👉 Alright, back to the video…fractures need immobilization to heal, usually around six weeks but more in some cases 🦴

If you move a fracture too aggressively or too early:
⚠️ The fracture can DISPLACE
⚠️ The bone can heal crooked
⚠️ You may ultimately require SURGERY
⚠️ Or worse…develop a NONUNION — meaning the bone fails to heal altogether 😬

💪 As for therapy after an injury, the traditional RICE method has fallen out a favor…

📚 RICE stands for:
🛌 Rest
🧊 Ice
🩹 Compression
⬆️ Elevation

There’s been a major shift toward the newer rehab concept called PEACE & LOVE ❤️

📚 PEACE stands for:
🛡️ Protect
⬆️ Elevate
💊 Avoid anti-inflammatories (short course ok)
🩹 Compress
🧠 Educate

📚 LOVE stands for:
🏋️ Load
😊 Optimism
🚴 Vascularization
🤸 Exercise

And honestly…for things like MILD ankle sprains and certain soft tissue injuries, early controlled motion and progressive loading may absolutely help recovery. ✅

BUT 🚨 this concept does NOT apply the same way to ACUTE fractures 🦴

I would NOT recommend removing your splint prematurely and starting a lot of early motion for an acute hand fracture…

…unless you want to see me in the operating room 🔨👨‍⚕️
