Ten years ago, I lost my job in college athletics.

What I remember most isn’t the job loss. It’s who disappeared. People I’d worked alongside, sat next to at conferences, called colleagues — gone. Not cruel, just… absent. Like unemployment was contagious.

I’ve never forgotten that feeling. And I promised myself if I ever had the standing to change it for someone else, I would.

Over the last few months, I’ve read about seasoned comms professionals who are the unfortunate byproducts of budget cuts or AI takeover.

So: if you’re a comms or PR pro who has lost your job, or you’re watching the layoffs happening across our field right now and wondering if you’re next — I’m available. 

Zoom, phone, text, coffee if you’re in Baton Rouge. No agenda. I’m not trying to network you into a job or get a testimonial out of it. 

I just know what it’s like to sit with that particular kind of quiet, and I don’t think anyone should sit with it alone.
