If you want to create dark and deeply moody portraits in a small home studio you need a grid. If you want to control light spill in any sized studio, you need a grid. So in this live stream, photographer Gavin Hoey will show you why a grid is an essential tool and not an optional add on.

Whether it’s small reflectors for hard light or big softboxes for soft light, Gavin will squeeze as many hints and tips about grids as he can in around an hour. From dramatic spots of light to more everyday uses like controlling flare, by the end of this session you’ll get a better understanding of why having a grid in your lighting tool box is an essential tool.
