A new workflow combining Claude Code with Obsidian is gaining attention as a powerful way to manage personal knowledge. 

By connecting Claude Code to an Obsidian vault filled with plain‑text notes, it can search and use your entire knowledge base to answer questions based on what you’ve written, instead of relying only on its general training. The responses reflect your notes, ideas, and past work, making them far more personalized. 

The workflow is inspired by Andrej Karpathy’s learning philosophy: if you can’t build something from scratch, you don’t truly understand it. Instead of collecting copied summaries or endlessly watching tutorials, you create notes from your own understanding and experience. 

Over time, this knowledge base compounds. A vault might grow from around 60 notes in the first month to 900 or more after six months. As each new note connects with older ones, your ideas become easier to retrieve and build upon.
