Who's not a Stephen Nedoroscik fan these days? The now famous Olympics' "pommel horse guy" won an individual bronze medal and helped the US men's gymnastics team take bronze and medal for the first time since 2008. Cameras captured him, glasses on, head back, eyes closed, waiting for his time to shine. He describes himself as a nerd, and with his engineering degree and Rubik's cube habit, he's captured the hearts of the entire country! 

He feels like people love his story because "being someone you don't expect to be able to do something cool" is surprising. "It's cool that people were able to see me be who I am and then also go out there and get the job done for Team USA." 

As to the work he puts in behind the scenes, Nedoroscik shares that he is totally analytical. "I record every single turn that I do, and then I analyze every single turn, and it actually annoys my coaches somewhat. I was doing it earlier in the week, and they were like, 'Dude, relax, you've done thousands. You've got this.'" He shared in an interview with GQ Magazine that the reason he's gotten to this point "is just because I can analyze it and break it down just like an engineer would." 

And as for the glasses? He has coloboma, which makes his eyes hypersensitive to sunlight on top of crossed vision, which means he struggles with depth perception. "I chose gymnastics by chance, but it was the sport that was literally designed for me and my eyesight. And to all the kids out there that also have glasses, I hope that they can see my story and understand that whether or not something might hold you back doesn't mean that you can't do it anyways."
