Florida State football suffered a pivotal loss with tight end Randy Pittman Jr. entering the transfer portal and signing with SMU, who the Seminoles are playing in their second game of the season.

Pittman Jr. had 23 receptions for 208 yards and two touchdowns through the air, while also having seven carries for 37 yards and three touchdowns on the ground last year.

His blocking ability in the running game and his leadership ability was a plus for a Florida State squad that needed production. While I understand that the Seminoles’ fan base don’t care too much about the tight end position since it isn’t as flashy as running backs and wide receivers, Florida State were able to acquire ECU’s Desirrio Riles and bring back former four-star prospect Landen Thomas to its roster to help with the loss.
