Redshirt junior Caleb LaVallee is someone that the Florida State coaching staff is excited about, but injuries have played a role into why he hasn’t had much burn in the Garnet and Gold.

LaVallee was picked up in the portal from North Carolina last offseason, and only played in one game in 2025. The Seminoles are hoping that he has better injury luck this time around.

The linebacker unit for Florida State should be improved from a season ago, as they have pieces such as Chris Jones, Mikai Gbayor, Blake Nichelson, Omar Graham Jr., AJ Cottrill, Izayia Williams, Karon Maycock, Chris Thomas, Daylen Green, and Noah LaVallee.

Assistant coach Ernie Sims will have a talented bunch to coach, but the defense overall has to be in better positions to effectively run the multiple 3-3-5 scheme that defensive coordinator Tony White runs.
