Some know the story, but most don’t.

I started behind a camera in high school back when schools had dark rooms, unlimited resources, and creative programs that allowed students to truly explore their craft. Today, many creative programs are limited by school funding, making it harder for students to access the equipment, software, and hands-on experience needed to enter the world of sports media.

That’s something we’re looking to change.

Every year, the path into sports media becomes more complex. Professional cameras, editing software, design tools, and the right mentorship are expensive and often out of reach for many students. The goal of The Blur Foundation is to bridge that gap by providing students with the equipment, education, and real-world experience needed to succeed.

This year, I set a lofty goal of selecting 4 students and providing them with the tools to learn alongside me in the field — everything from shooting, editing, post-production, design, and final delivery.

The application process for those 4 spots opens next week for Oak Ridge High School Juniors and Seniors interested in learning sports media. Students will meet once a week for reviews and hands-on education using the same tools and workflows used throughout today’s sports industry.

They’ll experience every side of the process:
📸 Photography
🎥 Video Production
🎨 Design
🖨️ Production Print
📱 Social Media & Content Delivery

Application details will be posted on the TBF page for those interested.

This is only the beginning.

The Blur Foundation is a registered California nonprofit, with 501(c)(3) status pending.

Follow blurfoundation as we’re only weeks away from showcasing the first 4 students, their work, and their progression throughout the 2026/27 school year. Vision is to expand this platform nationally but taking it one small piece at a time…

The future of sports media starts by giving students the opportunity to create.
