Clacton MP Farage quit to force a by-election he dubbed ‘The People versus the Establishment’ after pressure intensified on him over a £5m donation received from a crypto billionaire and gifts. ⁣

The move appeared to have backfired after all the main political parties including the governing Labour party refused to stand in the race which they called “fake” and “a desperate political stunt”.⁣
