Saturday is the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica.

The Srebrenica massacre 31 years ago marked one of the darkest chapters of the war that followed the breakup of the former Yugoslavia.

More than 8,000 lives were lost, thousands of people were displaced and families and communities were devastated.

“May the memory of Srebrenica strengthen our commitment to human dignity – today and for generations to come,” said #UnitedNations Secretary-General antonioguterres.
