The Kilgore Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc would like to thank everyone for joining us to recognize not only Black History Month, but to celebrate the retired black educators in the surrounding areas. Black History month is a time to celebrate the contributions of Black Americans to the United States and to recognize the importance of black culture and stories. It is also time to reflect on the people that have shaped African American history and culture. We paused to recognize the retired black educators who have shaped the lives of many of us throughout the area. We thank each of them for all the many years of hardwork through blood, sweat, and tears that were poured into the education system. We are who we are because of them. We all must continue to do our part to celebrate the influence and legacy of those who paved the way for many of us!
