Not the fastest Samsung SSD, and it's not trying to be. The new Samsung 990 is a value-focused Gen4 drive for a moment when NAND prices are climbing thanks to the AI buildout. It's DRAM-less, rated at 7,250 MB/s reads on the 2TB, and Samsung says it's its most power-efficient SSD yet, 38% better than the 990 PRO.
