🌊 TODAY is Arctic Sea Ice Day ❄️ A global reminder of the critical role sea ice plays in regulating our planet’s climate. 

When most people think of melting sea ice, they think of polar bears... and for good reason. 🐻‍❄️ 

Polar bears depend on sea ice as a platform to hunt seals, their primary food source. As the Arctic warms nearly three times faster than the rest of the world, sea ice forms later and melts earlier each year. This shortens the time polar bears have to hunt, forcing them to fast for longer periods and making it more difficult for them to raise healthy cubs. 

Why is this happening? Think of Earth's atmosphere like a blanket. Burning fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide, making that blanket thicker and trapping more heat. As temperatures rise, Arctic sea ice continues to disappear, impacting not only polar bears, but entire Arctic ecosystems and communities. 

The good news? We can all help. 🌎
