Nolan Wells' parents are speaking out. And the questions they are raising deserve answers.

Christine and Elmore Wonsley stood alongside Ben Crump and Rev. Al Sharpton on Friday calling for a thorough, transparent investigation into their son's death. Nolan was 18 years old. He died on Horn Island in Mississippi on July 4. Officials say he drowned. His family says that is not the full story.

"We always told him, if you go with a group, you stay with a group," his father Elmore said. His mother Christine added that she cannot fathom why Nolan would have chosen to stay behind on the island alone.

Then there is the phone.

When the family accessed Nolan's Snapchat accounts, both had been completely wiped with no photos or videos visible, despite Snapchat content typically remaining for 24 hours. "It wasn't even 24 hours," Christine said. "Even my sister was like, 'Yeah, that's suspicious.'"

Ben Crump revealed that Colin Kaepernick helped pay for an independent autopsy, which will be conducted in Washington D.C. specifically to avoid any involvement of Mississippi law enforcement due to "an issue of trust."
