Black farmers just won a major legal battle. And the backstory makes the victory even more significant.

A federal judge ordered the USDA to restore roughly $127 million in grant funding that the Trump administration canceled as part of its anti-DEI agenda. The grants help underserved farmers access land, financing, technical assistance, and new markets.

Court records show the USDA identified grants for cancellation by literally searching documents for words associated with diversity, equity, inclusion, and climate before cutting them. The funding cuts forced organizations to pause programs, delay services, and lay off staff.

The history behind this fight matters deeply.

Black farmers once made up 14% of the nation's farmers. Today they account for less than 2%, a decline directly tied to discriminatory lending, land theft, and unequal federal support for generations.

And National Black Farmers Association founder John Boyd Jr. says he was personally turned away from a White House farmer meeting, told the administration was focused on white farmers and corporate entities instead.

This ruling is not permanent. The legal fight continues. But today, Black farmers are still standing. 🔗 Full story at the link in bio.
