Since the DOD launched its effort to bring back troops separated over the COVID-19 vaccine, only 13 Soldiers — all from the Army — have returned so far.

One of President Trump’s early executive orders after returning to office called for the reinstatement of those troops, directing the military to provide “full back pay, benefits, bonus payments, or compensation.”

Troops who were discharged and are still interested in coming back have until April 1, 2026, to apply under the policy.
