Happy Father's Day to some toad-ally awesome boreal toad dads helping save wildlife, in Colorado, Utah and beyond! 🐸💚 

DZCA's Animal Care, Veterinary Medicine and Rocky Mountain Field Conservation teams have been working hard behind the scenes to prepare for the next wild release of thousands of boreal tadpoles into Colorado wetlands. After successful breeding efforts earlier this year, we're now caring for more than 2,000 tadpoles that will be released into the wild next week as part of our boreal toad conservation efforts. 

But their impact doesn't stop here. We also collected and shipped sperm from our male boreal toads to hoglezoo, where assisted reproduction efforts helped create fertilized eggs that have since hatched into tadpoles of their own. 

If all goes well, those tadpoles will one day be released near Bryce Canyon National Park, helping support the future of this at-risk and ecologically important species.
