Among the key findings:

- Mississippi has the lowest income range for the middle class, $39,000 to $118,000.
- Alabama is ranked as the state with the seventh lowest middle class range, starting at $44,439 to $133,318.
- Other states with lower middle-income rates include West Virginia ($40,532 to $121,596); Louisiana ($40,532 to $121,972); Arkansas ($41,404 to $124,212); and Kentucky ($43,017 to $129,052).
