SLED officials said the shooting occurred on February 12 at a housing complex at South Carolina State University, after the "purchase of a leafy green substance" led to an attempted armed robbery and subsequent shooting.

The suspect, 18-year-old Khamanti Kennedy, was officially charged with a second murder charge on Wednesday, after an investigation was requested by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.
