A wildlife photographer captured an extraordinary moment as an Eastern Kingbird struck a Red-tailed Hawk in midair.

Despite being much smaller, Eastern Kingbirds are fearless defenders of their nests and will repeatedly dive at much larger birds, including hawks, crows, and herons, to drive them away. This split-second image perfectly captures one of nature's boldest aerial defense tactics.
