One month old dwarf hamster Vasya from Petrozavodsk, Russia, became an internet sensation after fracturing his tiny front paw. Veterinarian Maria Astakhova carefully created a miniature splint and cast to immobilize the injury and help it heal properly. The adorable medical treatment highlighted the remarkable care veterinarians can provide, even for the smallest patients. Vasya made a full recovery, winning hearts worldwide with what is often called the world's smallest cast.
