## Caption

Opalized fossils form when the original material of an ancient organism is gradually replaced by opal during fossilization. This happens only under very specific geological conditions, where silica rich water seeps into buried bones, shells, or wood over millions of years. As the water evaporates, tiny spheres of silica are deposited, creating the gemstone's characteristic iridescent colors.

The process is exceptionally rare, which is why opalized fossils are among the world's most valuable and visually striking fossils. Most are found in Australia, where ancient inland seas and unique mineral deposits created ideal conditions for opal formation. These fossils preserve both the shape of the original organism and the shimmering beauty of precious opal.
