## Caption

The zigzag section exists because colonial surveyors chose to follow local geography instead of forcing the border to remain perfectly straight. The Fly River and surrounding wetlands made it more practical to adjust the boundary in that region for navigation and administration. As a result, the line briefly bends around difficult terrain before continuing along the 141st meridian east. It is one of the few places where an otherwise ruler straight international border takes a noticeable detour for geographic reasons.
