Back in 2009, Kanagawa Police went viral after using Nintendo's Wii Mii creator to produce a likeness of a suspect wanted in connection with a hit and run collision.⁠

Instead of turning to traditional sketch software, officers built a cartoon avatar complete with long hair and sunglasses before printing it on wanted posters alongside images of the suspect's car.⁠

The unusual tactic became so famous that it was later recognised by Guinness World Records as the first use of Nintendo in a criminal investigation.⁠
