This is one of the wildest Bitcoin stories of the year. The device was not a billion-dollar mining farm. It was a tiny open-source ASIC miner pushing around 1 TH/s.

The odds?

CoinDesk reported the chance of a miner this size finding a block was roughly once in 18,000 years. 🤯

Bitcoin mining has become massive, industrial, and competitive. Public miners run entire facilities. Hashrate is near historic highs. The biggest players are fighting for every block.

And yet, one solo miner still found one.

In other words 👉 Bitcoin is hard to win, but still open to anyone.

Solo mining has also been growing. CoinDesk reports 24 solo blocks were found in the past 12 months, up 41% year over year.

That does not mean solo mining is easy.

It means the network is still permissionless:
✅ No one had to approve this miner
✅ No gatekeeper gave them access
✅ No institution cleared the transaction

One person plugged in a tiny machine and won a Bitcoin block against the entire world.
