🎤🎓 Before there was hip-hop history, there was a kid from Wilmington, NC who just loved the mic. Nearly five decades later, that kid — now known as MC SHA-ROCK, hip-hop's legendary first female MC — is being inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame's class of 2026.⁠

But here's what makes this story even bigger: Professor Sharon Jackson is also a Bulldog. She's an adjunct professor in Bowie State's Visual Communication & Digital Media Arts program and the working architect behind the university's Hip-Hop Studies & Visual Culture minor — the first of its kind at any HBCU in the nation.
