Banff 🇨🇦 is jaw-dropping. It’s also one of the most expensive places to sleep in Canada. Hotels START at $300/night in summer and go up to $1,000+. And that’s before you factor in the National Park pass just to be there.

Firstly don’t forget to follow me @explorewithreshma I post travel tips, travel itineraries, hidden gems, etc regularly, so let’s stay connected and explore together ❤️

So where do the smart travellers stay? Let me break it down:
1. CANMORE - The #1 Move
20 minutes from Banff. 20-35% cheaper on average. And honestly? Some people like it MORE.
Here’s why:
- Same jaw-dropping Rocky Mountain views
- Better local restaurant scene - less tourist traps more real food
- Condo-style suites with full kitchens
- You only pay the park pass on days you actually drive into Banff Half the crowds of Banff - parking is actually possible here. Grizzly

2. HARVIE HEIGHTS - The Hidden Gem
Even cheaper than Canmore. Mostly vacation rentals & condos. Sits RIGHT at the Banff park entrance, so you’re closer to the park than most Canmore spots. Barely anyone talks about this place which is exactly why you should.

3. DEAD MAN’S FLATS - Best Name in the Rockies
Yes, that’s a real place. And yes, it’s one of the most affordable spots near Banff. Less amenities, but if you’re mostly in the car exploring anyway - who cares? Your wallet will thank you.

5. GOLDEN, BC - For the Real Budget Travellers
A bit further out, but a gorgeous mountain town with cabin-style stays at a fraction of Banff prices. Also a great base if you’re exploring Yoho National Park.

The honest truth: None of these are “cheap.” The Canadian Rockies are just expensive. But why pay MORE than you have to?

Save this for your trip planning and share it with whoever is about to book Banff without knowing this exists.
