On June 18, 1983, Sally Ride, a physicist from California, boarded the Challenger's STS-7 mission spacecraft, knowing she was about to become the first American woman to travel to space.

Sally later became a Physics professor at UC San Diego and Director of the California Space Institute. Today, we celebrate Sally Ride Day and her incredible contributions to space exploration and women in STEM 🔱🚀👩‍🚀
